Paragon of Animal is a mixed-portfolio thesis comprised of magical realism short stories and free verse poetry. In this anthology, animals interact with other characters, humans become animals, and animals serve as the central narrator. Most of the poetry included in the book are inspired by what I have been graced to see of America’s physical landscape--from Texas, to Northern Appalachia, to small cities along the coast of California. The poems demonstrate contrasts between settings: the microcosm and macrocosm, fabled cities, and suburban isolation.
